In 2003, a widespread area of snow fell across northwest Kansas. The
snow was accompanied by strong winds which gusted to 40 mph. The
combination of snow with the winds produced difficult travel
conditions and brief periods of near zero visibilities. The heaviest
snow occurred east of a line from Russell Springs to Lenora Kansas
which reported seven inches of snow.
