Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, September 07, 2008. Tropical Storm Hanna will continue to race along the Northeast Coast and over Nova Scotia before heading towards Newfoundland and out into the Atlantic Ocean. The storm will continue to produce widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms through nothern New England. Strong wind will also accompany the storm as it tracks along the coast. Flooding will be the main concern as several inches of new rain will fall on a relatively small area.

A broad trough of low pressure will slide into the Northern Plains and Great Lakes and produce areas of mild rain showers from the Dakotas through southern New England.

The Gulf Coast will remain dry, while considerable monsoonal moisture will stream into the Southwest and instigate widespread showers and thunderstorms in Arizona and New Mexico.

The West Coast will remain dry, but a trough of low pressure will push onto the coast and finally provide some cooling for the coast. This trough will renew the marine layer that will lead to the cooling.

The Northeast will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains will rise into the 80s and 90s, while the Southwest will see temperatures in the 90s and 100s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday ranged from a low of 28 degrees at Stanley, Idaho to a high of 118 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
