Come and "LIKE" our FACEBOOK PAGE Link

SKYWARN is a concept developed in the early 1970's to promote a cooperative effort between the National Weather Service and the communities they serve. Emphasis is focused on developing storm spotters; trained volunteers that report hazardous weather conditions to their local forecast office. In Cape May County this activity is directed by a SKYWARN Coordinator appointed by our Parent Command, the NWSFO Mt. Holly NJ.

This activity enhances the alert and warning process and the confidence of watches and warnings.

Cape May County SKYWARN encourages Amateur Radio Operation in support of fulfilling the NWS SKYWARN Mission and performs Emergency Weather Communications Support for the NWS Mt. Holly NJ during periods of Severe Communication outages or weather emergencies. Utilization of VHF/UHF/HF, Image and Digital modes are used to accomplish this tasking. WX2CMC NCS conducts weekly training in cooperation with the Cape May County Senior Weather Spotters to maintain a corps of skilled SKYWARN Spotters utilizing Amateur Radio.
