Thanks :)

I'd lock up and drive out from under it, but there's nowhere to go...Shep doesn't "do" north. :)

ROFL!
Maybe you could grab that gear and a KBar, paddle out and cut Deb's anchor line...

G'Day Ski!

You can drive all the way into the mountains of Tenn on I75 and still be in the "South".

Running for your life is not a "retreat".
Its just a temporary "relocation". :)

Good Morning Rattler!

That bow wave looked fearsome earlier, turns out not so much.

Here's your big Herc.:

(just think of it as an early 4th of July present)

Don't worry have been guilty of that myself. Storms make people go crazy for sure.

Yeah. Makes me sleepy, except when it makes me tense.
This must be what Alaska feels like in the winter...only warmer.

Good Morning!

Well, maybe it's not so good, for those wot are getting rained on.
Thems some nasty floodwaters and agitated seas.

It's still June, tight ??

In the meantime, it feels like April down here this morning.
But that looks to be a temporary thing, as there is some weather off to the North and East which might give us showers.

Stay safe and dry, Hood and Shaph.
This too shall pass. Although we can't tell you what's coming next.........

Just some info for the "know nots".

None of the rivers are in flood.
I-75 and I-10 have and will close in low lying areas until the witch moves outta here.
Our ground water is now surface water...and it's shedding.

Hi Guys and Gals, just checking in again!

Had the grandkids this morning but they have now gone home.

I see Debby is still spinning in the GOM just below the Big Bend Area.

Is that witch ever going to go NE and get the heck out of town?

Want to hear a good one.

The Suwanee River rose 22' in 24 hrs.

I've been here 62 years. This takes the cake.

Like the old farmer said when his mule died, "Damn, he never done that before".

That's impressive Shep.
Hope it's not causing too much trouble for too many folks.

I don't live near a river and the roads nearby aren't too prone to flooding. Checked the lake today and seems to be up about 8 inches from last week. Still a couple feet shy of max high water. after that it starts up my back yard which has about a 4 ft rise over about 125 feet to where the house is. Would need about 5 feet over max before it could get in the door.

If that ever happens we're in a world of trouble!

Has been crazy windy and gusty here today. White caps on the lake since daylight. Debby might not be very focused, but she's sure got a long tail.

Hard to say.
These rivers flood almost every year and the river rats that live there expect it. I've helped my nephew move stuff upstairs more than once. The problem is the rate of rise for sure. Some who left for work this AM may have a surprise getting back home after work. Not that their house is flooded , but the road to them may be.

Just 40 more miles to the east Miss Debby and I won't talk ugly about you anymore....sweetheart :)

Lost power here since last post. Trouble way up the line, should be back on in a few...hours. That's good though, that it's way up the line, I would hate to carry the repairman across the spillway on my back to replace a fuse on the pole outback. :))

So....why is won't not spelled willn't?

Yeah, time to light some candles, pour some rum and read a book. :)

In some places it is pronounced willn't.
Well, I've been holding off saying that Debs is accelerating. Didn't want to Jinx anything.

Be safe Y'all.
Heading out on the deck for a bit before the next band hits.

No worries Rob, glad you got a laugh out of that. :)

Shep has got a big red blob over him like apalachicola did last night, and a flash flood box, dang I hope the poor bugger doesn't float away, but all jokes aside looks serious since they are flooded already. Hope his power comes back on so he can give us an update

You guys are flooding and we are burning up.

At 1645 hours temp in Macon hit 97.2

Forecast for today called for 91

So whatever the forecast calls for I add 6.2 from now on.

Friday is supposed to be 104. Plus 6.2.

What is the temp in Canada this time of year?

I hear you Ski!
Best wishes go out to all that are dealing with excess precip. today.

At least wind won't be too much of an issue. Deb is down to 40mph, and we've had that here all afternoon.

And...at least she is moving!

Latest from NHC is good news. If it bears out, at least no one else looks to be in too great of danger from her.

Prime example of why it really irks me when people post things like "we really could use a TS now" or "a cat 1 or 2 would be fun". Tropical storms kill. Tropical storms do a lot of damage. Just ask folks here in town that don't have a house anymore. Just ask the 3 year old in intensive care that no longer has a mother.

Hope that you all stay safe and have a good night!

RTL,
You don't need anything as drastic as Canada.
You just need to get away from the furnace that is Macon.
Current temp. here...78 degrees F.

Hi RobDaHood.
I'm glad you have an Ark.

Hey Barefoot!
Good to see you.

Not quite so bad here in south central Florida.
Winds have been blowin' a gale, but we've gotten plenty of rain, but not too much.

Thanks for stopping by!

It was SugarBears turn to cook dinner tonight so she said she was going to expand my horizons.

That's our little code for she is going to cook something strange,
and I may want to have a peanut butter and jam sandwich!

So, tonight I had my very first taste of something called "Couscous".
It is a Moroccan Style Pasta made from Unenriched Durum Semolina Wheat.

It is not really pasta as I know pasta.
It is not rice, it is not oatmeal, it is not like anything I have ever eaten,
except maybe grits.

It looks like tiny little yellow ball bearings.
You cook it just like grits too in boiling water.
There is even a quick version that cooks in 5 minutes.

The meal was called "Warm Chicken Couscous Salad".
Yes, I said salad. It had grilled chicken in little pieces,
fresh tomatoes sliced in little pieces, green onions sliced in little pieces,
and of course, the little yellow Moroccan Grits!

It is served with Creamy Caesar salad dressing.
I've never tried salad dressing on my grits before,
but I must say, it was quite tasty! :)

ROFL RTL!

It's not really all that bad.

Hey Pottery!
Thanks!
Enjoy your dinner and drinks!

Goofy!
Thanks man!
The purpose of this blog has always been a place for all to hang out, share, and be kind to one another.

On the experimental front.
Angie is presently creating a masterpiece involving chicken and fresh pineapple. Will let you know how it works out.

Just kinda nice not to be cooking on a weeknight.

'specially since I've been up since 3 am.

I can finally see daylight about 5 miles to the west. Should clear up in an hour...or so.

Power boys have been working on situation for an hour. Still not back on. They're pretty resourceful, they'll figure it out.

Snakers I'm glad you enjoyed your couscous.
The only time I've ever had it, it really suckedsucked.
Kudos to SB for a non-sucksuck couscous :))

Looks like the rain is moving away from Shep...finally!

Think I'm about done with Debby. Will welcome some sunshine and heat.

So, this song has been stuck in my head for a couple hours.
Only way to get rid of it is to listen to it and give it away.

So, here you go. Dinner is ready!

Bah !
You guys are being treated to all sorts of Scrumptious Edibles tonight, eh ?

Well, here we had leftovers.....

But they were Nutritious, Filling, and Whatnot. (actually, they were great!)
:):))

Good to see that Debbs is finally moving on.
We had sporadic showers all day, and a gloomy sunset.
Lady Pott said it was 'miasmic'.
I'll have to remember to use that word some time....
