Good day!
I just wanted to take the opportunity to inform our WU Community that I will be taking a leave of absence from forecasting, effective immediately through all of Feb. in order to facillitate my move back to my prior residence. Good day!High pressure continues to build and dominate the SEUS, and is progressing eastward. As this high moves eastward, look for another slow warming trend over the southeast, with mild temperatures persisting through the remainder of the week. By Thursday, January 21, 2010, a low pressure area is progged to develop near TX/LA/AR. As this system moves ENE, look for POP to increase ahead of this system. Good day!Models are still in agreement of a low pressure system developing in the western GOMEX later today. As this low takes shape in the W. GOMEX, it is progged deepen to around 1008-1006mb in about 36 hours and move NE thorugh the Florida Panhandle, Georgia, SC and NC, and then be centered near the coastal area of Virginia by late Sunday/Early Monday. As this movess off the coast, look for winds around 35-40 kts just offshore, and seas building to around 15ft......
