Not a lot to tell you about. Talked to GNU a few days ago. Even though it is “slow” the gang was busy a few days, including a near all nighter. They continue to get snow there , but no real accumulation. Today it is rain and near 40.
I leave The Bluegrass late Wednesday, and back in Dutch Thursday. Just in time for the weekend.
It has been a great time seeing the family. Of course I got my golf in. The first three days I played with the folks here at the home course. 89 year old JOEKENTUCKY came out of semi-retirement in order to make me feel right at home and kick my ass as usual. He played three days in a row. I was unable to get out Saturday, but I tried. Sunday it was rainy, then today was Quality Time with a Doctor. Just taking advantage of NOT being in Dutch.
Tomorrow back to “golf” with my old friend THE PUNK. He belongs to a nice local club which will be a fun change. Thursday one last round with the folks, then it is off to the airport.
Tonight we went out for dinner alfresco. We went to The Captain’s Quarter right on The Ohio River. It was all part of The Mothers Day Extravaganza which was interrupted by that Doctor. The weather was perfect and the food was good. I hope MOM enjoyed.
Hope all MOTHERS out there got a little appreciative attention.

Louisville to Dutch in 24 hours? Well, if you believe you can... :)
Too bad you can't get another week to wander and play golf. Bet the kitties and foxes will be happy to see their food source return.
Joe means Wednesday here. We will play in the morning and then it will be off to the airport mid-afternoon. As Joe says, we celebrated Mother's Day today on the River and it was very nice. Thank you Joe. It has been a nice visit and the time has gone so quickly. We'll be looking forward to his return - hopefully later this year - maybe Christmas. The weather this afternoon was beautiful. Getting ready to heat up though.
I enjoyed seeing all the photos up in the Lake Michigan area. We used to visit there fairly often when I was young boy. It's been over 20 years since I was even close to it.
We are still enjoying mild to warm spring weather. Today and yesterday were a little off putting because I had to wear a shirt.
Have a great trip back.
And taking your Mom out for dinner on Monday night is all about not having remembered to book a table for Mothering SUNDAY…
Okay, I got it. Outdoorsy restaurants don’t fit well with a rainy SUNday. Wrecking Moms hairdo is no way to celebrate her awesome parenting skills.
Nor is weakening her drinks with rainwater.
I’m glad you all got out to celebrate the special day. You have it on a different day to the UK, ours was back in March. I decided to see what other holidays are different, and made some exciting discoveries…
It is with some sadness that May 3 2012 passed me by without my knowing that it was the OFFICIAL Lumpy Rug Day of America. The 8th was National No Socks Day – followed, no doubt with some intensive planning, by the sombre Lost Sock Memorial Day on the 9th.
This stuff explains a lot about the deeper psyche of America.
It also explains the strict new anti carry-on sock policy at Anchorage Airport that had Joe pinned to the floor by a crack 12 man, espadrille wearing, security team…
So you all Dance Like A Chicken on May 14th?
Hug Your Cat on June 4th?
I’ll be joining in with the International Panic Day on June 18th, just for the fun of it.
And in the hope that GNU GUY is paying attention, I’d like some Youtube footage for August 8th 2012 please – National Sneak Some Zucchini Onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day….
Do it right GNU, place the order for delivery from Seattle the week before.
Block out the daylight.
UK, you really opened a can of worms. I had no idea! Although I thought there seemed to be an awful lot of special days for this and that.
My favorites for June:
National Candy Month
World Naked Bike Ride Month
DARN - missed Leave the Office Early Day (on the 1st)
MISSED National Bubba Day too (on the 2nd)
Recess At Work Day is the 16th
- oh, goody, haven't missed that one.
Stupid Guy Thing Day is the 22nd
International Fairy Day is the 24th
Ok. You get the idea.
IAOtter, you are funny. I love zucchini; I would take it.
...Waiting for the boss to leave to have my Recess At Work Day since the internet tells me this is the day. I am currently working on a manhour estimate though--that is not very recess-like. I'm trying to decided what I am going to do to celebrate. :)
Dotmom sounds like a wonderful visit. Joe, I hope your connections are good and the trip home is an easy one. Visits just go too quickly. I know how much Joe was looking forward to being with you all.
