The people in the background are gathered around a powerful telescope set up to view the transit of Venus. Upper left was the Astronomy Club's welcome desk where they handed out sunblock glasses. It took a bit of patience because the sky was overcast but every now and then the clouds would thin. We brought my old welding helmet and a set of welding goggles and they worked for viewing as long as one was looking through thin cloud.
We stayed for a couple of hours and saw the image of Venus Transit projected on a white target. I took a picture but I can not see much in it. Might post it here anyway.
We stopped up at our daughter's and the clouds blew away. I brought her laptop out and put up Ylee's solar cam and checked LowerCal's blog as well and we argued a bit 'cause we were seeing the image in a different orientation than the sat. images.

If you want to see the Sun oriented the same as the satellite images you have to lay flat on the ground with your head pointed north and then roll on your side enough to face the Sun. That could be less or more fun and/or exercise than arguing about it depending on how you argue. ;^)

OrangeRoses: T'was busy yesterday. We were expecting a friend to arrive from Seattle and just in time found out we were supposed to meet him at the airport two hours away, find some supper, drive us all home and then catch up on about a year since our last visit so by the time I got here last night I was somewhat worn. Hope you find the OrangeRose now. I was surprised to see it there. Though this plant has been there for years I had never noticed the blossoms before.
Undecided whether to rent or own this life.

I checked out the link on your blog to sound intensity. I run noisy equipment most days and have some measurable hearing loss. For many years hearing protection has been a part of my apparel but there were too many years before that we did not have "Peltor" ear protection.
